Stephen King:The Master of Suspense

Probably everyone at one time or another has read a Stephen King book or watched a movie adaptation from one of his many short stories. He is, without a doubt, the master of suspense, blending the strange, with the supernatural to weave a most unusual story that always leaves the reader wondering about their own inner demons.

King, an admitted fan of 1950's horror flicks, began writing short stories by the time he was 7. He received an English degree from the University of Maine in 1970 and later started teaching High School English. King spent his nights and weekends writing and soon became discouraged after several of his first attempts at writing a novel were rejected. Check out Stephen King Books here.

Kings wife Tabitha rescued Carrie from the trash heap and it went on to become his first published novel. Carrie was a smash hit at the box office, when it was made into a movie in 1976 and the rest as they say is history.

Some of King's bestsellers are Salem's Lot (1975), The Dead Zone (1979). Needful Things (1991), Gerald's Game (1992), and the Dark Towers series. In addition he has had movie success with Firestarter,The Shining, Pet Semetary, Cujo, Sleepwalkers, Misery, The Stand, The Shawshank Redemption and Green Mile. Look for the DARK TOWERHere.

Stephen King has sold over 100 million books and has moved into the digital age with the release of the first chapter for The Plant on his web site Stephenking.com for a fee of 1.00, which emphasises his fan's desire to not only read his printed works, but the digital version as well.
